Goosemoor Lane Estate

From left to right: Cranleigh and Repton Houses

The Goosemoor Lane Estate is a large council estate in the Short Heath area of north Birmingham. Centred around Top Croft Road and Baldmoor Lake Road, the estate is bordered to the north and east by Goosemoor Lane, to the south by allotments and to the west by Short Heath Park. Prior to its construction, the land was used for allotment gardens.

Plans for the construction of the estate were approved in 1963 and construction was started by Stubbings in 1964, with the estate being completed in 1966. The estate is predominantly lowrise with terraced and semi-detached housing, although two 9 storey tower blocks were also constructed in the southwestern corner, containing a total of 68 flats.

The estate has largely remained unchanged, although some of the garage bays behind houses have been demolished and additional residential properties constructed at the edge of Short Heath Park.
