Sandyhills is a district within the East End of Glasgow. It is bordered by Mount Vernon to the east, Springboig to the north, Foxley to the south, with Egypt and Shettleston to the west. Housing in Sandyhills was originally developed during the 1930s in the form of cottage flats on the city's eastern periphery. Prefab houses and bungalows were erected in the aftermath of WW2, although those have all been demolished. The former Sandyhills House was demolished and replaced by the four 22-storey tower blocks which were built in 1968 - the most eastern high rises in the city:
Their completion led to the demolition of the pre-fabricated dwellings, which were landscaped over and now form Sandyhills Park.
